Per chi non l'avesse capito: The Wizard = Jeff Mills. Questo era il nome che usava ad inizio carriera, quando era spesso ospite del programma "The Electrifying Mojo" sulla radio WJLB. Girovagando su youtube ho trovato uno dei set di quell'epoca, che contribuirono a renderlo il Mito che è ora grazie alla sua tecnica superlativa che gli consentiva di creare una sorprendente continuità tra tracce di generi completamente differenti, utilizzando tricks come lo scratch ed il beat juggling. Questa qui sotto è solo la prima parte di un set che continua in altri 6 video. Enjoy ;)

For those who have not understood: The Wizard = Jeff Mills. This was the name he used early in his career, when he was a frequent guest of the "The Electrifying Mojo" show on WJLB radio. Wandering on youtube I found a set of that time, which helped to make him the myth that it is now thanks to his superb technique that enabled him to create a striking continuity between tracks of completely different genres, using tricks like scratching and beat juggling. This below is just the first part of a set which continues in other 6 videos. Enjoy ;)

Techno-logic

Questa è la zone relativa alla musica techno, genere musicale nato grazie a strumenti elettronici che è suddiviso in una miriade di sottogeneri, che si sono formati grazie ad artisti che hanno adottato sonorità e ritmi differenti. Il tutto ha preso vita negli anni '80 in quel di Detroit, grazie a persone come Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Carl Craig, Richie Hawtin giusto per citare qualcuno. Negli anni precedenti si era utilizzata la tecnologia in ambito elettronico per produrre musica, in moltissimi casi come "ausilio" in qualità di effettistica, ed erano pochi i pionieri che si avventurarono in questo ambiente, come i Kraftwerk e i Rockets. Ma fu durante la decade che iniziò nel 1980 che alcuni musicisti cominciarono ad usare la tecnologia come discrimine principale rispetto agli altri generi musicali. Da quì appunto il nome techno, abbreviazione della parola technologic. Suoni sintetici, rave party e uno spirito molto affine alla musica rock fanno esplodere la techno in tutto il mondo in pochi anni, aprendosi alle più svariate influenze musicali europee ed americane, e facendo proseliti fra i suoi ascoltatori, fino ad arrivare ai giorni nostri, dove la techno muove milioni di persone tutto l'anno, diffondendosi ovunque dalle grandi metropoli che ospitano festivals fino ai paesi della provincia.
